21st Ammendment Monk's Blood
Abbey Ale
View Website
USA
Monk’s Blood pays homage to the monks of Belgium’s monasteries who have been
brewing some of the world’s great beer for centuries. During times of fasting, the monks
subsist solely on beer, which they refer to as “liquid bread”. Beer, quite literally, is in their
blood. The most sublime of the monk’s premium brews is dark like blood, rich and nourishing.
21st Amendment founders Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan traveled to Belgium to
develop the recipe for this special beer, visiting small, traditional breweries in the hop
fields of west Flanders, not far from the famous Trappist abbey of Westvletren. Monk’s
Blood is designed to pair beautifully with rich winter stews, creamy cheeses, unctuous
desserts or just by itself, in a Belgian tulip glass, with a good book by the fire.

Captain Lawrence Bourbon Barrel
Smoke from the Oak Smoke Porter
View Website
USA
I am big fan of bourbon. It is one of the only true American distillated, and has a long rich history to go with it. Many people don’t know that by law, for a whiskey to be called bourbon, it must be aged in brand new, charred American oak barrels. So once that bourbon is dumped from the barrel for bottling that barrel can no longer be used to make bourbon and is of no more use to the distiller. That’s were we come in. We acquired freshly emptied bourbon barrels to age our Smoked Porter in, and it was worth the extra effort. We present to you the perfect marriage of beer, bourbon and oak for you to enjoy.

This beer is a salute to the ingenuity and creativity of the American craft brewers. A uniquely American style of beer, the Double or Imperial IPA, has become the calling card of many craft brewers who aren't afraid to push the limits of what hops can add to a beer. This beer is big and hoppy - not for the faint of heart! Be prepared to experience sensory overload as you savor this Imperial IPA.

This is a beer that will make you rethink your definition of beer. It doesn’t taste like any beer you’ve ever had, yet it doesn’t taste like anything else either. Pushing the limits of brewing is what makes this job so much fun. Malted barley, wild yeast, hand picked Muscat Grapes, and French oak wine barrels are just a few of the things that went into crafting this beer. Breathe deep, take a long sip, and enjoy the creation in your hand.

This is a truly unique brew, combining some unusual elements to create a powerful, yet flavorful brew. I brewed a similar beer to this one back in 1998, while I was home brewing out in California. Only this time around I decided to age it in bourbon barrels to add a new element to the already rich sensory profile. The combination of dark malt, elderberries and bourbon barrels makes for an interesting tasting experience. This is a sippin’ beer, so sit back by the fire and enjoy. 12% alcohol by volume.

Rum barrels are a new one for me. I’ve never tasted a beer that was aged in rum barrels before I tasted the same beer you have in your hands. And let me tell you, it was no easy task tracking down freshly emptied rum barrels and getting them up to the brewery. But I think you will agree it was worth the extra effort. To create this beer we took our Smoked Porter and let it slowly age in barrels that once held 12 year old Virgin Island rum. Straight from the Captain’s cellar to yours, we hope you enjoy.

This is a big, malty and rich Belgian-style abbey ale. We combined both US- and Belgian-malted barley and a specially selected yeast strain to produce a truly unique beer. This beer was brewed as a thank-you to my father Vince who has helped to make this brewery a reality. It will be brewed once a year and released on Father’s Day. This is a great beer for aging, so lay some down and try it in a year or two!

Smoke from the Oak Smoked Porter

The marriage of beer and oak is a truly wonderful thing. Just like wine, whiskey or rum, beer can also gain in complexity when aged in oak barrels. But if you take it one step further and age the beer in oak barrels that had previously held worLd class wine, well then you can elevate the experience even higher. This is our Smoked Porter, aged in French oak barrels that were previously used to age Merlot and Pinot Noir. We let the beer age in the barrels for around 12 months before adding a fresh dose of yeast to allow the beer to naturally carbonate in the bottle.

Of all the different versions of the “Smoke from the Oak” series this one was the easiest to conceptualize. The flavors of Port and Porter are very complimentary to one another and the marriage of those flavors inside the oak barrel produce a truly unique beer. The sweetness left in the emptied oak barrels from the sugars of the Port meld with the roasty flavors of the Smoked Porter to create a totally new experience. Straight from the Captain’s cellar to yours, we hope you enjoy.

It takes a bit of seasoning to understand that bitter can be a good thing.
When you’re a child, you want everything to be sweet. When you’re a teenager, you want everything to be sweeeeet. But when you get a bit wiser and acquire some taste, you realize that bitter is an excellent alternative. It’s a sign of complexity. It’s a sign of maturity. It’s a sign of the times. Face it, modern life demands a little bitterness every once in a while.

Yes, we're a little obsessed with hops. Every autumn for over twenty years, Jim Koch has traveled to one of the oldest hop-growing regions in the world, the Hallertau region of Bavaria in Germany, to hand-select Noble Bavarian hops, including the Hallertau Mittelfrueh variety. This special variety is considered to be one of the best in the world, prized for its unique taste and aroma. Samuel Adams® Hallertau Imperial Pilsner is a celebration of these extraordinary hops.
This beer is one of the hoppiest in the world, without being overly bitter. With the first sip, you will experience an explosion of some of the world's finest hops. And we mean “explosion” in a good way. Brewed as a showcase for the hops, this bold brew highlights the spicy, citrus flavors and aromas of the Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops that are abundant in the recipe. The intense hops flavor is balanced with the slight sweetness from the malt. The brew remains pleasantly well-balanced from beginning to end, due to the quality of the hops, and continues to always be, well, "hoppy," providing hop lovers with an amazing beer drinking experience.

Samuel Adams Imperial White

Samuel Adams® Imperial White is a new perspective on the classic witbier style. Witbiers are normally light and refreshing with a fruity finish and we wanted to see how these characteristics would stand up when we amped up the recipe. We were totally blown away by the flavors that were created by this beer.
This is not just a more intense version of our spring seasonal Samuel Adams® White Ale. Imperial White is a new recipe that stands on it own merits. In fact, it is more of a wine substitute than just another refreshing witbier. This is a beer that should be sipped and savored and you’ll be amazed at the flavors you’ll discover as the beer warms and opens up.
